AFC assists the 53 members of the African Union (AU) and Regional Economic Communities (REC's) in the development of viable national film industries, which further the creative environment and stimulate local economies.
AFC representatives work closely with each nation in the planning, implementation and management of all aspects integral to the success of effectiveness of its film commission. Network members are provided with advertisement, consultations, and educational support across a variety of areas, including financing, producing and securing both above the line creative talent and below the line technical crews. Additionally AFC not only works with members in the conceptualization and establishment of the necessary film infrastructure, including hi-tech production facilities and also cooperates with national representatives in developing and instituting training facilities for film professionals and students.
It is the goal of the AFC to work with each nation within the network in not only establishing its presence in the film industry across the African continent, but on an international level, as well. The ultimate mission of the AFC is that the success of the film commissions will directly increase interest, awareness and tourism to each nation.
